Chuck, you have done a fine job with this site. I can identify with the time period you have written about - '66 to '67. I Joined Lima in Sept. '67 in Okinawa. You will recall that we boarded ship on Oct. 2nd and then went affloat off the coast of Vietnam for almost a month. We landed near Dong Ha on Oct. 28, '66. Some went in by water landing craft and others, like myself, went in by helicopter. Eventually, of course, we ended up at the Rockpile. Then on about Feb. 12, '67 we moved to Payable. From my recolletion and diary, everything after we moved to Payable was very difficult for all of us. I kept a record of many of the events that followed until I left in late April '67. Perhaps I will my record with you if you are interested. I seem to recall that you were interested at one time in knowing more about the "friendly fire" incident of Feb. 19, '67 when McKenzie and many others were seriously wounded and Branock, Mason and Liberati were killed. I have a written account of that incident. Let me know if you are still interested in at least my version of that event. By the way, I saw McKenzie at the hospital in Oakland in May '67. He was doing well. He was walking with crutches. About 6 months later he came to visit me in Utah driving a new Jeep. He was physically impaired for sure, but he was getting along. Last I heard he was in Alaska. Well, I guess I have rambled on enough for now. You take care and keep up the good work on this site. My complements to Cpl Johnson and Doc Jewitt for their excellent work as well.

Great site! Would love to hear from a radioman for 3rd plt Lima Co. during Vietnam. As everyone knows, the radioman is the radioman until someone else takes over. So as that little metal box was passed on it made it's way to me when I with 3rd Plt Lima in the mid 80's. Every RO passed on a little insight that he learned from the previous guy. Who knows maybe a little trick of the trade you learned made it way to me. Hope to hear from someone.
Nice site

Great Web Site Chuck. . .I served with L 3/3 from October 65 - August 66 (wounded twice), Operation Harvest Moon & some "Search & Distroy Mission" in a Ville -April 66. I was 0351 (Rockets). I can't remember what platoon I was with (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc,(The mind does funny things), and I'm hard pressed remembering almost everyone that was there with me. I was on "Hill 22" for a time, and my platoon or Company stayed on "Monkey Mountain" for a month or so after Harvest Moon. Sure would like to hear from any of the Marines that were there with me. Semper Fi, "Rocky" Fortner, former L/cpl, Cpl.then L/Cpl again. Ha !!
Great site! I just got off the phone with Charles Massengale ....e-mail with Stephen Marlin and I'm trying to track down Mike Boyle from NY and Richard Liska (burned real bad from a gas can.)
