               I was in the 'nam' nov.66-mar.67.  lima co.3-3.   I remember the rockpile and the razorback. I did a couple weeks on the razorback.  I remember getting ready to go out one night to set up an ambush, when we started receiving 50cal. fire from hill 300. as you remember there was hill 100, 200, and 300. anyways, the bullets were hitting the ground about 10 to 20 feet from us, and coming right towards us. we jumped behind a big rock and started return fire. a couple of guys got nicked, but nothing serious.  ---------- do you remember that ----------- how about oper. praire 2------  we were behind the razorback, and received a call that a co. had gotten overrun at quangtri-------- we hiked back, and assembled at some highway intersection. we were given dry utilities, a hot steak, an apple, and all the ammo we needed. they trucked us to quangtri. it got real ugly real quick. we got into a fierce firefight with v.c in bunkers. lost one marine and another died later because the choppers couldn't get in to e-vac. him.---------- had to dig in for the night. I remember digging and hearing automatic-fire close by. also remember hearing mortars exploding. the v.c was trying to walk them in, but never succeeded. who knows?????? maybe they ran out of ammo.?!?       the next day--------mar2.----- we were entering a village, and encountered machinegun fire. we had tanks with us , and were walking alongside. we ran to the grass, got down and returned fire. all hell broke loose.       I started to advance and tripped a landmine. later they told me it was an anti-tank mine.-------I got knocked on my ass, and knew I was hit.----------the firefight continued.     a couple of grunts dragged me back to some cover, and later a chopper med-I-vac'd me to dong-ha. ( I THINK) THEN I was flown out to the U.S.S. REPOSE.           I was there a couple of months then sent home , to great lakes naval hospital. stayed there a couple months. had a couple operations on my leg.---------- got out in 1968.  -------------------------------------------- I'd do it all over again if I had to.           SEMPER FI
